Quiet the noise, on your terms.

The constant what-ifs, the tight chest, the nights your mind won't switch off. Anxiety is exhausting, and it responds well to treatment. You don't have to white-knuckle your way through it.

Anxiety is the body's alarm system stuck in the on position. A certain amount keeps us safe and sharp. Too much, for too long, wears you down and shrinks your life to the things that feel safe.

Signs we look for

  • Worry that's hard to control, often about everyday things
  • A racing heart, tight chest, restlessness, or trouble breathing
  • Trouble sleeping, or a mind that speeds up at night
  • Avoiding people, places, or tasks that trigger the worry
  • Panic attacks that come on fast and feel frightening
  • Irritability, difficulty concentrating, and feeling on edge

Anxiety often travels with depression, ADHD, or sleep problems. Part of a good evaluation is sorting out what's driving what.

How we treat

Treatment is individualized and usually combines skills that calm an overactive system with medication when it's the right fit. We're honest about what medication can and can't do, we start carefully, and we follow up so you're never managing it alone.

Understand the pattern

We map what sets the alarm off, so treatment targets the real driver, not just the symptom.

Skills that calm the system

Practical, evidence-based tools you can use in the moment and build on over time.

Medication when it helps

Options explained honestly, started low and slow, and adjusted to fit your life.

A panic attack can feel like a medical emergency even though it isn't the same thing. If you're ever unsure, or you're having thoughts of harming yourself, call or text 988 or go to your nearest emergency department. Sigma Psychiatry is not an emergency service and is not available 24/7.

Anxiety Questions

Common questions

Is medication the only treatment for anxiety?

No. Anxiety responds to several approaches. Medication helps some people, skills and therapy help others, and many do best with a combination. We start by understanding what's driving it, then build the plan with you.

Do you prescribe benzodiazepines?

Cautiously, and rarely as a first or long-term solution. Many effective anxiety medications aren't controlled and are safer for ongoing use. If a controlled medication is ever appropriate, we explain the tradeoffs and the rules that apply in your state before prescribing.

Can you help with panic attacks?

Yes. Panic, generalized worry, social anxiety, and stress-related symptoms are common reasons people come to us. We treat the underlying pattern, not just the moment.

How will I know if it's working?

We set clear, personal goals at the start and check against them as we go. We're honest about what to expect and we adjust the plan rather than leaving you waiting.
